Vintage is Still King. With the recent movie release of “The Great Gatsby” and the popularity of vintage weddings, 1920’s fashion and themes are popping up everywhere in the bridal world. From intricate beading on dresses to elaborate headpieces, this look is quite the showstopper. More brides are gravitating towards Art Deco venues and feathered centerpieces to create a glamorous Gatsby inspired wedding with a modern twist. A style trend in weddings and wedding invitations lately has been vintage. From brides showing me photos of their all-lace wedding dresses to choosing classic colors of champagne and ivory, vintage is still alive and kicking. Along these lines, many brides are opting to keep things simple. If it’s having their ceremony and reception at the same outdoor location or choosing to forgo favors and donating to their favorite charity instead, brides are sticking with vintage throughout with the simpleness of their wedding in general.
The Passion for Pastels. pastel wedding invitation design and printing . Three of the four brides I met with this week are using pastel colors as the primary colors for their big day. Colors such as light pink, peach, mint green and light yellows are definitely the trend and are complimenting brides who are going more for the vintage theme. Pastel colors are great for wedding invitations and give brides options, especially when it comes to envelope colors. Brides who choose colors of dark purple and black for instance, can be limited on how to address dark colored envelopes. With pastels, that is never an issue.
The peplum trend has been on the rise the past few seasons. From everyday wear to high-end luxury brands to wedding dresses, peplums are everywhere! Peplum dresses are perfect for brides with curvy bodies…it slims the waist and accentuates your hourglass figure. This style is also flattering on brides with straight bodies…it defines the waist and adds volume to your figure.
Although many bridal designers are coming out with different types of exquisite necklines, strapless wedding gowns are currently by far the most common style in the bridal market. Strapless gowns are not always flattering on all body types or appropriate for formal church ceremonies but simply adding a cover-up is a great alternative to showing too much skin. It’s also a great way to create two different looks for your wedding day. Add a shawl, cape, bolero, jacket, lace coat, or capelet for the ceremony and then remove the extra piece for the reception. Monique Lhuillier’s new collection is full of classy cover-ups that will leave you wanting to keep it under wraps!
